IQNA – The 11th Arbaeen International Award will be held in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, next month.

Winners in different categories will be named and awarded during the event, which is slated for January 1, according to the public relations office of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).

The Arbaeen International Award hosts innovative works in the fields of culture, art and media related to the Arbaeen pilgrimage from all over the world every year.

Ahead of the 11th edition of the event, a 3D film on the Arbaeen procession produced with virtual reality technology was unveiled.

The unveiling of this creative work was held as part of a special program at the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization headquarters in Tehran.

By providing 360-degree content, this film provides an immersive and realistic experience of the Arbaeen march atmosphere for the audience.

It is designed using modern media technologies and, without geographical limitations, narrates the cultural and spiritual message of Arbaeen and Ashura in a global and effective way.

This 3D film was produced in the Mahta-Tasvir Cultural Institute by Seyed Mostafa Razavi and directed by Ebrahim Memarian and Mahmoud Nazeri.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Mostafa Hosseini Neyshabouri, Secretary of the Arbaeen International Award, addressed the unveiling program.

Referring to the growth of the quality and content of the works in the 11th edition, he considered the professional use of modern technologies to be one of the important characteristics of this year’s works.

Regarding the unveiling of the 3D film of the Arbaeen march, he said this work portrays the sense of sacrifice, hospitality, and the desire to meet the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (AS) with artistic language and modern tools, and is an effective step towards globalizing the message of Arbaeen.

Memarian, the director of the 3D film, referred to its features, saying the use of virtual reality technology and 360-degree filming makes the audience feel like they are in the Arbaeen march while watching and have a real experience of this spiritual path.

People who have not been able to attend the Arbaeen procession so far can tangibly experience the atmosphere of the pilgrimage using these glasses, he stated, adding that the emotional reactions of the audience indicate their deep attachment to the atmosphere of the work.

Memarian also stated that the main goal of this project is to effectively communicate with the young generation through new media tools.

Arbaeen is a religious event observed by Shia Muslims on the fortieth day after the Day of Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Shia imam.

It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, with millions of Shia Muslims, as well as many Sunnis and followers of other religions, walking to Karbala from various cities in Iraq and neighboring countries.
